Amit Ranjan has spent his career crossing borders—just like the historical figures he writes about. A three-time Fulbright scholar, and a recipient of the Endeavour and Inlaks Fellowships, Ranjan has been a visiting scholar at FIU in Miami; and at UNSW in Sydney. He is the author of John Lang: Wanderer of Hindoostan… (2021), a work regarding the Rani of Jhansi’s curious Australian lawyer; as well as two poetry collections, Find Me Leonard Cohen, I’m Almost Thirty (2018) and The Knot of Juggernaut (2022). Ranjan studied at St.Stephen’s College, Delhi; and JNU from where he obtained his PhD; and has taught at prestigious institutions in India and overseas. Amit has also been a journalist, a playwright, and an actor. Now, with his fourth book, he turns his gaze from the wanderers of history to wondering about one of its most tragic “what ifs.”
