Krishan Chander was a prominent Hindi and Urdu writer. He was born on 23 November 1914 in Wazirabad district, Gujranwala, which now falls under Pakistan. He spent his childhood in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir and has published several stories and novels. During his lifetime, a total of twenty of his novels and thirty short story collections were published.
