Dr Aheed Khan is a paediatric cardiologist based in Delhi, currently working in medical education with AMBOSS. Born and raised in Rampur, he moved to Delhi in 2008 for his medical education.
His interest in history took shape during the pandemic, when research for a historical novel set in Delhi led him to a question closer home: how much of Rampur’s past has been forgotten, or lost altogether? That question became a six-year journey across Rampur and Rohilkhand, speaking with historians, residents and enthusiasts, and reopening old wounds in the region’s history. What he found was that most of it had not been lost, only forgotten. It still breathes beneath a collective amnesia.
He is also the founder of Bayan-e-Rampur, a citizens’ collective, and Essence-Arq, an artisanal food company. Through both he conducts heritage walks and produces short video documentaries for social media, taking Rampur’s history to audiences well beyond its archives.
His guiding philosophy remains: ‘My work is not for the past or the present. It is for the future, so that the next generations will know where they came from, and the path that joins them to their forebears.’
