John Vater is an American literary translator and writer. He is co-translator of The Play of Dolls: Stories by Hindi author Kunwar Narain and co-author of More Than the Eye Can See: Memoirs of Gopinath Pillai. He is now translating the Hindi novel Register Me As Kulbhushan by Alka Saraogi (forthcoming). His translations have appeared in several literary journals, such as Ploughshares and Words Without Borders. He was a resident translator at the Banff International Literary Translation Centre (BILTC) in Banff, Canada, and has an MFA in literary translation from the University of Iowa.

Apurva Narain is Kunwar Narain’s son and translator. His books include a collection of poetry translations, No Other World, and a co-translated collection of short stories, The Play of Dolls. His work has appeared in several literary journals over the years. Educated in India and at the University of Cambridge, he writes in English, consults in the field of international development, and has professional interests in ecology, public health and ethics.

Sohail Rekhy was born in Mumbai to actors Waheeda Rehman and Kamaljeet and spent several summers and countless weekends on the shores of Raigad District. He grew up in Bangalore, fascinated by Indian history, and went on to study literature at the University of Toronto. Sporadic journalism and freelance copywriting always kept him by his pen, as he worked in advertising and television industries and dabbled in sustainable furniture. This is his first novel, a fruit of years of research and writing. He currently lives with his wife and daughter in Bhuta.

As the Corps Commander in Srinagar, he planned and executed the surgical strikes in Kashmir in 2016. A counter-terrorism specialist from 8 JAKLI (Siachen), he has operated extensively in Jammu and Kashmir and the North-east during his four decades of service. He has also been a commando instructor and India’s defence attaché in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

विनीत गिल लेखक और संपादक हैं। अक्सर साहित्यिक-आलोचनात्मक प्रकृति और कभी-कभी बेहद निजी स्वर लिए उनके कई निबंधों को विभिन्न भारतीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रकाशनों में जगह मिली है। बीते दशक में उन्होंने अपने समय का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा पढ़ने और लिखने में व्यतीत किया है, और इन दोनों परस्पर संबंधित गतिविधियों के आस-पास अपने जीवन को गढ़ने की कोशिश की है। यह उनकी पहली किताब है। 

Abhijeet Bhalerao is an author, translator, speaker and visual artist. He has been recognized for his research into Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s jail notebook, which he also translated into Marathi. Alongside serving as an income tax inspector in Mumbai, Abhijeet also shares his insights on Maratha war strategy and tactics as a visiting faculty at Mumbai University. He is passionate about exploring literature, history and art.
