Sidharth Singh

Sidharth Singh grew up on a farm in Dumraon, Bihar, and went to Welham Boys’ School in Dehradun. He studied English literature at Hindu College, then moved to Mumbai, where he works as a writer and director in the film and television industry. This is his first book.

Avtar Singh Bhasin

Avtar Singh Bhasin retired from the Ministry of External Affairs in 1993 as director historical division after three decades of service. Since retirement, he has taken to academic research. He was senior fellow of the Indian Council of Historical Research and then honorary fellow at the Institute of Contemporary Studies, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library. His area of research has been India’s relations with neighbouring countries. He has over the years compiled official documents on India’s relations with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal in five volumes each, and on India-Pakistan Relation in 10 volumes. His last publication in the same genre was India-China Relations 1947-2000 also in 5 volumes.

Between 2002 and 2013 he published an annual series titled India’s Foreign Relations for the Ministry of External Affairs.

His other books include Some Called It partition, Some Freedom; India in Sri Lanka: Between Lion and the Tigers, India-Pakistan: Neighbours at Odds. His last book Nehru, Tibet and China garnered great acclaim.

Manan Kapoor

Manan Kapoor is the author of The Lamentations of a Sombre Sky, which was shortlisted for the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2017. He was a writer-in-residence at Sangam House writers’ residency in 2019. His writings have appeared in the Boston Review, Caravan, The Hindu, Scroll, Firstpost and the Wire, among other publications.

Neena Gupta

Neena Gupta is a two-time National Award-winning actor, filmmaker, producer and television personality. She started her career in Delhi’s booming theatre scene in the 1980s but decided to switch to film and television after acting in the 1982 Academy award-winning Gandhi. She went on to star in several critically-acclaimed television shows such as Khandaan and Mirza Ghalib. She also worked extensively in art-house and independent films such as Mandi, Trikal and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron. Neena has directed, produced and acted in several television shows including Saans, Siski and Son Pari. Her most recent works include award-winning performances in Badhai Ho, Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan, Panchayat and The Last Colour.

Hisila Yami

Hisila Yami is a Nepali politician and an architect. Born into a well-known Newar family in Kathmandu in 1959, she started her revolutionary life as a student activist in 1978. During the 1990 uprising against the Panchayat regime in Nepal, Yami was one of the most prominent women leaders. She has been arrested many times for her anti-monarchy stance. She graduated from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi, India, in 1982 and completed her master’s from Newcastle University, UK, in 1995. The same year, she became the president of the All Nepal Women’s Association (Revolutionary). She also taught at the Institute of Engineering in Pulchowk, Kathmandu, for thirteen years.

Hisila Yami went underground in 1996 during the People’s War (PW) in Nepal. She went on to become a politburo member of the CPN (Maoist), headed the Women’s Department, was a member of the International Department and the secretary of the People’s Power Consolidation Department in Rolpa during the PW.

In April 2007, Yami joined the interim government of Nepal as the minister of physical planning and works. She won the Constituent Assembly elections in March 2008 from Kathmandu’s Constituency 7 and took over as the minister of tourism and civil aviation in April 2008 and the minister of land reform and management in August 2011.

She is married to a fellow architect and politician, Baburam Bhattarai, who went on to become the prime minister of Nepal (from August 2011 to March 2013). In 2015, Yami, Bhattarai and some other leaders abandoned the CPN (Maoist) to start the Naya Shakti Party, which later evolved into the Janata Samajwadi Party, Nepal.

Yami is a regular contributor to several publications in Nepal. She is also the author of People’s War and Women’s Liberation in Nepal.

In recognition of his contributions, Mohanji is an invited member of theLiving Peace Projects Foundation of the Netherlands. Mohanji Foundation is an invited member of the United Nations’ NGO, Parliament of World’s Religions, and the Unity Earth movement. He has received honours from several countries, including the Seal of State from Peru.
