Rhiannon Jenkins Tsang

Rhiannon Jenkins Tsang is a British writer whose work focuses on historical fault lines and contains strong international themes. She studied Oriental Studies at St. Anne’s College, Oxford, and is a non-practising lawyer. She speaks Mandarin and Cantonese.

Sardar Patel

Vallabhbhai Patel (31 October 1875-15 December 1950) was born in Gujarat and was independent India’s first home minister and deputy prime minister. He was a successful lawyer and a leader of the Indian National Congress. Popularly known as Sardar Patel or ‘The Iron Man of India’, Patel had a vital role to play in the integration of India into a single republic and in providing relief and rehabilitation to refugees after Partition.

Sandeep Krishnan

Sandeep K. Krishnan is a senior director at People Business, a global
leadership and human resources consulting firm. He is an adjunct
professor for the course ‘The Making of a CEO’ at IIM Bangalore. He
is also a visiting faculty at IIM Indore.
Sandeep is a fellow (doctorate) of IIM Ahmedabad and did his
graduation from the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram.
At People Business, Sandeep has led consulting assignments with
organizations like 3M, Tata Group, ITC Limited, Biocon, Britannia,
Manipal Group, Allstate, United Technologies, PWC and Accenture
in the areas of leadership and talent management. Prior to joining
People Business, he has worked with Infosys, Ernst and Young, IBM
and RPG Group. He is an executive coach with certification from the
University of Cambridge.

Shreevatsa Nevatia

Shreevatsa Nevatia is the editor of National GeographicTraveller, has worked for Hindustan Times, Mumbai Mirror and Outlook, and written for Open and The Hindu‘s BLInk.

Yashwant Chittal

Yashwant Chittal is one of the most significant voices of modern Kannada literature.

Pratibha Umashankar-Nadiger straddles two disciplines-academics and journalism. She was, till recently, the associate editor of Climate Control Middle East, and was formerly consulting editor of Books & More. As special feature writer for Weekend magazine, Khaleej Times, she received the best feature writer award for 2008 and 2009 from the government of Dubai. Apart from cover stories, edit pieces, interviews and essays in literary journals, her published works include two coffee table books on eminent Zoroastrians (which she edited), a biography in Kannada and a set of English textbooks (co-authored). She is presently working on her doctoral thesis on Partition writing
by women.

Deepak Singh

Deepak Singh is a writer, radio producer, and journalist. He is a frequent contributor to Public Radio International’s World and has written for New York Times, National Public Radio, Boston Globe, and Atlantic.

Mridula Behari

Mridula Behari is an award-winning Hindi writer. Since 1977, she has written several short stories, novels and plays for the theatre, radio and television. Her work has also appeared in several leading publications such as the Hindustan, Saptahik Hindustan, Dharmayuga, Sarika, and the Kadambini, besides being translated into other Indian languages. The most recent among her many awards is Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi’s Meera Puraskar for 2008-09.

B.G. Verghese

B.G. Verghese (1927-2014) studied at Delhi and Cambridge universities and was a columnist and author. He served with the Times of India for many years before becoming the information adviser to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was later the editor of the Hindustan Times (1969-75) and the Indian Express (1982-86) and was with the Centre for Policy Research, Delhi, thereafter. His books include Waters of Hope, India’s Northeast Resurgent, Reorienting India: The New Geo-Politics of Asia, First Draft: Witness to the Making of Modern India, A State in Denial: Pakistan’s Misguided and Dangerous Crusade, Post Haste: Quintessential India and Breaking the Big Story (edited).

Verghese was active in the fields of education, population, human rights, the environment, regional cooperation and security. He was a member of the Press Council and chair of the Media Foundation. He received the Magsaysay Award for Journalism in 1975.

Pupul Jayakar

Pupul Jayakar was an author and Indian cultural activist. She was also a close personal friend to the Nehru-Gandhi family. Jayakar authored notable books such as Indira Gandhi: A Biography, J. Krishnamurti: A Biography, Fire in the Mind: Dialogues with J. Krishnamurti, and Textiles and Ornaments of India: A Selection of Designs.

Jayakar was a graduate of the Bedford College and the London School Of Economics. Upon returning to India, Jayakar started a children’s magazine and later became involved in politics as an assistant to Mridula Sarabhai, a Congress activist. Jayakar was cultural adviser to the Government of India and the executive director of the Handicrafts and Handloom Corporation of India. Jayakar was also an active member in the Krishnamurti Foundation. She was married to Manmohan Jayakar. After marriage they both settled in Mumbai. Together, they had a daughter. Jayakar passed away in 1997.

Sonia Golani

“Sonia Golani is an alumna of Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi, and a postgraduate from Delhi University. She has been managing her recruitment consulting firm, Management Consultants Group, for over a decade now. Her organization specializes in recruitment of professionals (MBAs and CAs) for the banking, financial services, insurance and FMCG sectors. Prior to starting her own enterprise, she was associated with the editorial and marketing of a leading agri-business magazine. Her passion for writing led her to write this book.
