Maria Teresa Menezes

Maria Teresa (Tessa) was born in Mumbai in 1926. She graduated from St. Xavier’s College and soon after, married an officer in the Indian Navy. Her father, as Honorary Counsel for Brazil, would often entertain at home, with one of the daughters being made responsible for the menu and overseeing the cooking. The cuisine was normally Goan. Tessa’s mother-in-law, Maria Felicia Menezes, was also an excellent cook. A lot of the recipes in this book are a result of watching Maria Felicia in the kitchen and noting down the ingredients.
Although she has travelled widely and now lives in Pune, Tessa’s heart is very much in Goa.

Maneka Gandhi

Maneka Gandhi was born on 26 August 1956 and was educated at Lawrence School, Sanawar. She was a magazine editor and columnist before she embarked on a career in politics. She was elected to Parliament in November 1989 and was later appointed Minister of State for Environment and Forests, a post she held till June 1991. Maneka Gandhi has written three books, Sanjay Gandhi, Brahma’s Hair (a book on the mythology of Indian plants) and Boulababa. Her special interests include Indian mythology, animal welfare (she is the Managing Trustee of the Ruth Cowell Foundation, which runs the Sanjay Gandhi Animal Welfare Centre, India’s largest animal hospital and shelter) and issues related to environmental conservation. She lives in Delhi with her son, Feroze Varun.

Jesme Sister

Born in 1956 in Thrissur, Kerala, Meamy Raphael, later Sister Jesme, was the fourth child of her parents. She completed her school and college education in Thrissur and Palakkad. In June 1974, she started her religious training, but with special sanction, was permitted to continue higher studies for M. Phil. and Ph.D on a merit scholarship of the Government of India. Since 1980, she has been teaching, by turns, at two Catholic colleges in Thrissur; she was Vice-Principal at one and Principal at the other, for three years each. Jesme left the Congregation of Mother of Carmel in August 2008, while applying for voluntary retirement from service in the college.

AMRIT N SHETTY

Amrit N. Shetty is an IT professional working with a multinational company. He has worked with various IT companies including ones in Austin, Dublin and Edinburgh. Ishi Khosla

Ishi Khosla is a practising clinical nutritionist, consultant, columnist, researcher, writer and entrepreneur. She is actively involved in clinical practice at the Centre for Dietary Counselling in Delhi, where she deals with a wide range of nutrition-related health problems. She started her career with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and later she was the head of the Nutrition Department of Preventive Cardiology at the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi, for several years. Passionate about nutrition, she spearheaded a health food company, Whole Foods India, which is in the business of producing and retailing health foods and operating health cafés. Ishi Khosla founded the Celiac Society for Delhi in 2006 to spread awareness about celiac disease, a condition caused by wheat intolerance.

Peter Casey

Peter Casey is founder and executive chairman of Claddagh Resources, a global recruitment and search business that places high-level executives with many of the world’s Fortune 500 companies. Having established successful business interests in Australia and Ireland, Peter set up Claddagh Resources in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1995. Claddagh currently operates on four continents.

Peter was named by Irish America magazine as one of the leading Irish-American businessmen for 2007. He has had a wide portfolio of business interests, including commercial, residential and agricultural property in Ireland. His approach to business is simple-he likes to invest in people. Peter is also an accomplished writer and a political and business commentator, with articles published regularly in Ireland and the United States. He is best known, perhaps, as an investor on the Irish television programme Dragons’ Den, in which he is one of the Dragons. He tweets with the handle @TheDragonPeter. Dr Vineet Aggarwal

Dr. Vineet Aggarwal is a doctor by qualification, manager by profession and artist by temperament. Born to a family of doctors, he successfully completed an initial stint with the family occupation before deciding to venture into pharmaceutical management and currently pursues writing as a passion.
He lives and works in Mumbai and is the author of popular online blogs Decode Hindu Mythology and Fraternity Against Terrorism and Extremism. His literary repertoire covers topics from politics to poetry and travel to terrorism but his favorite genre remains the amalgamation of science with religion.
This is his first book.
